A Friend in Need

A Friend in Need was an exhibition about the influx and impact of American soldiers of New Zealand during World War II. It told the story of young marines who were based here before going on to fight in the Pacific War and how we received them, and how they changed our lives.

Prime Minister Helen Clark and US Ambassador William McCormick at historic Old St Paul’s, the parish church of the Marine Corps in Wellington, opened the exhibition in May 2007.
