The haka Ka Mate has become firmly fixed in New Zealand’s history, culture and identity. But where did it come from? What is it really about? Who owns it? Ka Mate: The Exhibition is an immersive, interactive, multimedia experience which aims to answer these questions, while giving visitors the opportunity to learn and perform the famous haka. A collaboration between Story Inc and Ngati Toa Rangitira, the exhibition domintated Te Papa’s central Wellington Foyer during the Rugby World Cup in September and October 2011.
