In 2005 Auckland Museum commissioned Story Inc to help create a new long-term gallery about volcanoes. The exhibition explores the science and human stories of volcanoes all around the world, but focuses in particular on Auckland as one of the few cities on the planet built on an active volcanic field. The highlight is a glimpse of Auckland’s possible future: a recreated suburban sitting room from whose picture windows visitors can witness the birth of a new volcano in a spectacular eruption!
