The Project

Created for Rotorua Museum’s newly built Don Stafford Memorial Wing this permanent exhibition which opened in 2011, traces the rich history of Te Arawa, one of Aotearoa’s most famous tribal confederations.

Story Inc developed the concepts, content, design, and supervised the installation of the eight separate galleries, which follow Te Arawa’s journey from Pacific origins to the present day.

The exhibition brings together many of the tribe’s most iconic taonga (treasures) for the first time, and through them tells the amazing stories of the Rotorua region.
